You’ll need:
- Screwdriver
- Penetrating Oil
When a screw is firmly attached be careful not to apply too much pressure and strip the head.
Instead spray penetrating oil such as PB B’laster (found in our Lawn & Garden department) and wait half hour to hour then try again.
Also make sure the head of the screwdriver you are using fits tightly into the slot of the screw. It’s very easy to strip the head of a tight screw using the wrong size screw driver.
Removing A Screw That’s Stripped
You’ll need:
- Screwdriver
- Penetrating Oil
- Hacksaw
To remove a screw with a stripped head, use a hacksaw (found in our tools department) to saw a new slot in the top of the head.
Then use a regular type screwdriver with a head that fits exactly into the slot. If the screw head won’t move with reasonable pressure, apply some penetrating oil and wait about an hour before trying again. It may be necessary to apply penetrating oil several times before the screw loosens.
