Spring Energy Saving Tips:
- Check your windows! 30% of a homes cooling costs are lost thru poorly fitted windows. Replace your windows with energy star windows or adding caulking & weather stripping to reduce energy loss.
- Lower your water heater temperature. Lowering the temperature to 120 degrees with save tons on your energy costs. In the warmer months, you wont notice the difference.
- Wash clothing in cold water. This will save you an average of 18 cents per load.
- Service cooling systems in spring! Service your central air & cooling systems now before it's hot and you run into problems.
- 2 Ways to Save! Air drying your clothing saves on the energy cost of running your dryer and the extra energy needed to cool the heat that the dryer adds to your home.
- Remove hot air created in your kitchen. Using the exhaust fan while cooking uses less energy than the energy cost needed to have your cooling system.
- Change the direction of your ceiling fan. Make sure your ceiling fan is pulling the hot are upward and circulating cooler air around you.
- Clean the condenser coils on your refrigerator. Dirt build up on the coil causes the motor to work harder and use more electricity. Also clean you the doors seals to make sure the cold air stays inside.

Spring Cleaning Tips:
- Cleaning Wood Work: Use old socks as mitts to clean your wood work.
- Avoid Streaky Walls: Wash walls from the bottom up to avoid streaks.
- Mixing Chemicals Can Be Toxic! Never mix ammonia & bleach or Windex & Comet cleaners.
- Removing Spots. Use rubbing alcohol to remove spots on bathroom fixtures. Use vinegar to remove spots on stainless steel.
- Using Dryer Sheets: Use dryer sheets to collect pet hair, remove soap scum from your shower and prevent dust on your television.
- Baking Soda Doesn't Last Forever. Replace baking soda in you refrigerator and freezer every month.
- Keep Carpets Smelling Fresh. Leave baking soda on carpets over night to remove musty odors.
